December Volunteer of the Month
Mike Thomson!
Mike Thomson!
In the special month of celebrating, we would like to honor Mike Thomson as our volunteer of the month!
Mike, a retired USAF Colonel with 28 years of military service and a founding member of St Isidore, brings over 40 years of progressive leadership experience to the table. Having spent 25 years in director-level management positions and over two decades in federal law enforcement and security, Mike has directed security, antiterrorism, and emergency planning for corporations and the US military transportation system. With a background in multi-site human resources leadership for domestic and international companies, Mike has managed annual budgets ranging from $40 million to $1.2 billion. Despite his impressive professional history, Mike's true passion lies in volunteer work. Drawn to St Isidore's focus on service and outreach, Mike serves as the CFO/Treasurer and dedicates time each week to the Bistro and mobile food pantries. As a Christian, he sees volunteering as a theological obligation to share his time, talent, and treasure with those in need, setting an example for others to follow. Mike's key core value is encapsulated in the mantra "All Hands-on Deck" through service to others, and he finds personal joy and fulfillment in the concept of "offensive generosity," where the more one gives, the greater the joy and happiness experienced, creating a sense of redemption and renewal.
